I think it was second week of February when I found myself constantly browsing Maldives photos, Maldives volunteering jobs, Maldives couchsurfing, etc. in the internet. But reality slaps that I can’t just teleport to that pristine island right there and then.
Although Burot Beach isn’t as “paradise” as the Maldives, its seawater and semi-fine cream sand would suffice my long-time beach thirst. Likewise, it’s a perfect weekend escape (Valentine’s day celebration) for people who want a quick break from the city and just appreciate the sea’s natural form and beauty.
I’m quite sulky with mother nature because this is the second time I hit the beach without the sun. No sun means gloomy skies and bye dramatic sunsets. Boooo!

Let’s set the facts straight this early that I am no member of any mountaineering club nor a semi-pro hiker and have the littlest knowledge about mountain climbing and stuff. But I have loved the adrenaline rush that this activity brings in to me that is why I planned this Mt. Batulao experience one hazy Sunday (January 11, 2015) morning.
We left our place around 5:30 AM and after 30-45 minutes, we already found ourselves at the jump-off point at Evercrest Golf Club and Resort, Nasugbu, Batangas. We hired a tour guide because we weren’t confident enough with the trail despite the reviews that says Batulao is an easy climb. Besides, I am with a 10 year old kid who most probably needs a “guide.”
We started to ascend by 6:30 AM and went through the old trail. We did a little stop over by the small stores before reaching the camp site. A 20 Php registration fee is required before continuing the hike. In the old trail, you have to traverse a harsher course, very much forest like. The hardest part for me was when we have to do rappelling for about 10 feet high. It wasn’t the most difficult to others but for me who’s shaking knees with heights, it was kinda trembling. It was actually lightly planned that our family will be celebrating New Year at Pico de Loro Beach and Country Club at Hamilo Coast, Nasugbu, Batangas. Mom has booked a unit already good for 5-6 people through Jenny’s Place who happens to be a very generous owner. But come New Year’s day, the weather was a bit harsh plus my little brother is severely sick with flu. After several discussions and calls, we finally pushed through and arrived there at around 3 PM. The weather was still unwelcoming but it did not stop me and my sister to go swimming at the Country Club.
Aside from the swimming pools, the sports centers (badminton, tennis, basketball) and other recreation activity areas such as Wii room are located in the Country Club. The Country Club is open to all guests.
The Beach Club on the other hand can only accomodate members and accompanied guests who shall be endorsed earlier of the day. Continue Reading
